As much pride accompanies being No. 1 in this three-team crosstown rivalry — a distinction the Spartans clinched when they beat Northridge 7-0 and Central 49-16 this past month — none of the three teams want to be the clear No. 3.
Central (1-4 overall) and Northridge (1-4) clash at 7 p.m. Friday at District 6 Stadium. Each team will have the chance to at least win the consolation prize of splitting its two games this fall against longtime crosstown rivals.
