Current Chicago Bulls starting center Jalen Smith has been ruled out for the rest of an ongoing Madison Square Garden slaughter at the hands of the New York Knicks, per K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network.
Smith leapt over All-Defensive forward OG Anunoby while defending him beneath the basket. The Bulls’ floor-stretching big man toppled to the ground face-first, bracing himself with his hands.

New York paces Chicago at the break, 84-49. Jalen Brunson alone has scored 26 points. Those 84 Knicks points represent a franchise record for a first half. Dalton Knecht, of all people, helped New York tie its previous record with a practically buzzer-beating triple.
Chicago, meanwhile, is connecting on just 39.6 percent of its overall field goal tries, including 19.2 percent from long range. The Athletic‘s Joel Lorenzi writes that this marks the second time that the Bulls have let another team score 70 or more points against them in a first half. That’s less than ideal.
