Arsenal new signings: Confirmed ins and outs for Summer 2025

Arsenal failed once again to win major silverware in the 2024/25 campaign, but going into the summer transfer window, the Gunners were looking to finally bring in the players who can make a difference for them.

Another bridesmaid's finish in the Premier League should have been more than enough reason for Arsenal to invest this window, especially in the forward ranks. Arsenal's first confirmed signing of the summer transfer window was that of Kepa Arrizabalaga. They have reportedly paid his £5m release clause to sign him from fellow London-based Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Kepa has signed a three-year deal at the Emirates Stadium, and is expected to fight with first-choice goalkeeper and fellow Spaniard David Raya for a starting spot. The Gunners have done plenty of transfer business with the Blues in recent seasons, and have continued that trend here.

    Kepa signing grade: B

Though not a particularly exciting signing, Arsenal needed to bring in a new goalkeeper after the departure of Neto following his loan spell from Bournemouth in the 2024/25 campaign. At just £5m, bringing in an experienced Premier League shot-stopper in Kepa represents good business.

He has only made one appearance so far, in the Carabao Cup third round away at Port Vale, where he kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win.

    Martin Zubimendi (Real Sociedad)

Arsenal finally completed the signing of Martin Zubimendi in a deal that was believed to be struck months ago. The Gunners reportedly paid his £51m release clause to sign him from Real Sociedad.

Zubimendi signed a five-year deal at the Emirates, and is expected to come straight into the team as a first-choice starter. Arsenal will believe that this is a significant coup, considering that fellow Premier League title rivals Liverpool were reportedly close to signing him in last summer's transfer window.

    Zubimendi signing grade: A

Given that other big clubs like Liverpool and Real Madrid were reportedly in for him, Zubimendi joining Arsenal could be seen as quite the coup. He has already impressed, notably scoring twice in a 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium, and is a huge upgrade in the middle of the park.

The Gunners also signed a second defensive midfielder in Christian Norgaard, following the departures of both Thomas Partey and Jorginho. They reportedly paid a total transfer fee of £15m including add-ons to sign the now former Brentford captain.

Norgaard brings plenty of Premier League experience at 31 years of age, and will no doubt be a handy player to have in the squad. The Denmark international is also comfortable on the ball, a tough tackler and offers an aerial threat from set pieces.

    Norgaard signing grade: B

Very much like Kepa, Norgaard is a smart signing for the squad. Having previously been the captain of Brentford, the Dane brings leadership qualities on the pitch as well as Premier League experience.

Norgaard has unfortunately had injuries this season, and so he has not been seen enough in an Arsenal shirt just yet.

    Noni Madueke (Chelsea)

Arsenal signed a second player from fellow London-based Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer transfer window, picking up England international winger Noni Madueke for a reported fee of £52m including add-ons. A lot of Gunners fans were against the signing initially, and even signed a petition expressing their thoughts.

Perhaps their opinions are understandable given the sheer volume of transfer business that Arsenal have done with Chelsea in recent seasons, and it can be seen as frustrating for the Gunners to give the Blues a large sum of money for a player that they ultimately did not want to keep. However, Madueke will be very determined to prove them all wrong.

Indeed, at just 23 years of age, he has plenty of potential, and also boasts plenty of experience at the highest level already. Madueke has signed on a long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium.

    Madueke signing grade: B

The reported transfer fee for Madueke does seem excessive for essentially a back-up right-winger to Bukayo Saka. Nonetheless, he still improves the depth of the squad and again offers Premier League experience.

Madueke put in some impressive performances before unfortunately suffering a major injury that is expected to keep him out for a while.

Arsenal signed Cristhian Mosquera for a reported transfer fee of £13m not including add-ons. The central defender joined from La Liga side Valencia, and has signed a long-term deal at the Emirates Stadium.

Mosquera made a total of 90 appearances in all competitions for Valencia by the age of just 21, and is also a full Spain U21 international. He will provide quality cover for more senior centre-backs William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, and will wear the number three shirt in North London.

    Mosquera signing grade: B

Mosquera is also another smart signing in terms of increasing the depth in the squad. He is a player with plenty of promise, and provides much needed cover at centre-back.

When both of Arsenal's first-choice centre-halves have been injured this season, Mosquera has generally filled in very well, and has shown a maturity beyond his years.

    Viktor Gyokeres (Sporting)

Perhaps Arsenal's most significant signing of the summer transfer window was that of Viktor Gyokeres for a reported fee of around £63.5m including add-ons. The Sweden international striker signed having boasted an exceptional goalscoring record at previous club Sporting in Portugal.

Gyokeres signed on a long-term contract, and will wear the iconic number 14 shirt once worn by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry. The 27-year-old cam in with a big reputation, and the Gunners will hope that his goals can fire them to major silverware.

    Gyokeres signing grade: A

It is a real coup for Arsenal to sign Gyokeres at the price they did considering some of the other transfer fees that strikers are going for in the summer transfer window so far. He has already gotten off the mark with three goals so far this season at the time of writing, and could prove to be an essential purchase that the Gunners look back on should he help them claim major silverware.

Arsenal's marquee signing of the summer transfer window has to be that of Eberechi Eze from fellow London-based Premier League side Crystal Palace for a reported transfer fee of around £67.5m including add-ons. The England international midfielder did originally have a £68m release clause in his contract at Selhurst Park, but it expired on the first day of the new 2025/26 season.

North London rivals Tottenham were reportedly close to agreeing a deal to sign Eze before the Gunners swooped in and hijacked the move. The 27-year-old has returned to the Emirates Stadium after he was released from the academy at the age of just 13.

    Eze signing grade: A

Eze is the X-Factor that Arsenal have needed to help unlock packed defences, and being a boyhood Gunners fan, this deal just makes so much sense. He is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder or as a left-winger, a position that Mikel Arteta's team arguably needed to upgrade.

Eze has already scored for his new club and made plenty of assists, and has quickly turned into a fans' favourite at the Emirates Stadium.

    Piero Hincapie (Bayer Leverkusen)

Arsenal's final signing of the summer transfer window was that of Piero Hincapie on Transfer Deadline Day. The 23-year-old Ecuador international joined on a season-long loan from Bundesliga heavyweights Bayer Leverkusen.

Capable of playing both as a central defender and a left-back, Hincapie will help boost the Gunners' defensive options for the new season. There is reportedly an option to buy him for £45m should he impress at the Emirates Stadium.

    Hincapie signing grade: A

To get a player of Hincapie's quality on an initial loan deal with an option to buy is such smart transfer business from Arsenal. His added versatility means that he should be a very useful asset to the squad.

However, injury problems at the start of the season have halted Hincapie's progress so far, and so we have not seen too much of him in a Gunners shirt.

Arsenal transfer window rating: Grade A

Arsenal brought in a lot of smart signings that have filled in holes in the squad. It now has no glaring weakness, and should be ready to compete on all fronts.

Perhaps Arsenal's only criticism is the lack of money that has been recouped from player sales, as opposed to their direct rivals like Liverpool and Chelsea. A number of players that they reportedly wanted to get off of their books on a permanent basis have only left on loan.

Arsenal have had a great start to the season though with a lot of their new signings making significant contributions, and head into the October international break at the top of the Premier League table.

It is perhaps safe to say that Arsenal's business in the Summer 2024 transfer window was a mixed bag. Loanees Neto and Raheem Sterling failed to make an impact, with the former playing just once and the latter scoring no Premier League goals.

The permanent signing of Raya was needed as he won the Premier League's Golden Glove award for the second successive season. Riccardo Calafiori had good moments but was scuppered by injury, while midfielder Mikel Merino did well as a makeshift striker and scored some important goals.
