WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (KDVR) — More than a hundred people attended a vigil Sunday for Consuelo “Connie” Chavez, who died on Oct. 3. Police are calling her death suspicious.
Chavez was found dead near the 4500 block of Everett Court near 44th Avenue. Police have not released any other details, but said the investigation is open and more information should be released on Wednesday.
“My sister was an amazing person, she was just a beam of light,” Jesus Chavez told FOX31.
The family is demanding more information regarding the circumstances of Chavez’s death.
“She didn't deserve what happened to her,” said Jesus Chavez.
The family sold bracelets, food and other special items at the vigil to help with funeral expenses. Chavez’s siblings told FOX31 their top priority is making sure her three children have all of the support they need in coping with the loss of their mother.
“They're being kids, they look okay, but then they have their moments, they're quiet, the oldest was crying,” said Jesus Chavez.
Her other brother, Frank Osborn, told FOX31 his sister was a giving, loving person.
“She'd do anything for anybody,” he said.
Jesus Chavez told FOX31 his sister will be remembered for her acts of kindness.
“She was a great mother, a great sister and just all around great person,” he said.
