PENN YAN, N.Y. – A remembrance was held for Pat Stenz, a 78-year-old woman who died in a fire nearly two weeks ago in Penn Yan. Family, friends and the community gathered Saturday afternoon at the American Legion in Penn Yan for a celebration of her life.
Pat’s grandson, Ethan Parker, also died in the fire. Fire officials said Ethan alerted his grandmother to smoke in the home and tried to get her out. Both were rescued by firefighters but later died at a hospital in Syracuse.
The family dog, Bee, also perished in the fire.
A fundraising event is scheduled for Oct. 11 at the Valley Inn in Branchport.
