Jordin Sparks is dishing all about reality TV.
The 35-year-old American Idol alum — who serves as the host of Roku’s new business reality show, America’s Real Deal, which premiered on Aug. 29 — exclusively tells Parade whether or not she’d consider doing reality TV again.

“I have a friend who's obsessed with Big Brother, and she was like, ‘You should go on that,’” she says. “But I'm not a manipulative person. So I think I would get voted off, like, immediately, but I think it would be cool to try.”
When asked if she would be open to hosting another reality show, Sparks was quick to tell Parade all about her “guilty pleasure” series.
“I want to be a host on Love Island,” she reveals. “I want to do it. I gotta see it in person. Maybe even if I don't host, like, let me be a tree or something! Let me sit behind the camera and see it in person because it's just crazy [with] that show and how everything happens.”
Sparks rose to fame in 2007 after winning Season 6 of American Idol when she was 17 years old. Since then, she has returned to Idol numerous times to perform. Sparks has also released five studio albums, including Jordin Sparks (2007), Battlefield (2009), Right Here Right Now (2015), Cider & Hennessy (2020) and No Restrictions (2024).

When asked what advice she’d give young hopefuls auditioning for American Idol, Sparks tells Parade that she’d say to “not really sweat the small stuff.”
“Don't try to nitpick it. Just focus on yourself and focus on how you're going to make yourself better each week,” she explains. “Because if you start wondering or focusing on what everybody else is doing, your performance is going to suffer, and what you're giving is going to suffer. So I think that's what I would say.”
She adds: “I don't know if I necessarily got told that exactly. So I feel like if somebody would have told me that, I think it would have helped my mental [state]. But at the same time, my mental [state] was like, ‘I'm going to be around to get to the finale.’ That was my goal, and that was what I focused on.”
In addition to her successful music career, Sparks has appeared on numerous reality shows, specials and web series, including Heart of Batter With Jordin Sparks, Jordin Sparks: A Baby Story, The Masked Dancer and Season 31 of Dancing With the Stars.
The Grammy-nominated singer has also been on Broadway, having made her debut in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights before returning to the stage in Waitress in 2019. She’s also appeared in multiple movies, including Dear Secret Santa, The Grace of Jake, Left Behind, God Bless the Broken Road and A Christmas Treasure.
