ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Another brisk morning with temps in the mid 50s and not a cloud in the sky, but we’ll quickly warm up through the 60s and 70s the rest of the morning and eventually reach the mid 80s for our high today. Who said it was fall? That’s nearly 20 degrees above average.
A less cool start tomorrow, and again we’ll get up near the mid 80s with a few more clouds.
Tuesday clouds, humidity, and some wind will build ahead of a cold front, which will bring us some sorely needed rain. It could be a doozy too, with half an inch of rain in Rochester to possibly over an inch in the higher elevations expected. Daytime heating could result in some convection, which would help to increase our rain totals, and it also has a small chance to cause a few rumbles of thunder. Instability looks meek right now though, meaning more than likely all this will do is give us some beneficial heavy rain. So we’ll keep it Green on the Threat Tracker, but check back in later today and tomorrow for updates.
Once the cold front passes, skies will clear for Wednesday and stay mainly sunny the rest of the week. It will be MUCH cooler, with highs on Wednesday in the low 60s and Thursday in the upper 50s. The last time our high temperature was in the 50s was June 1st, when we got up to 58 degrees. So if you’ve been waiting for the fall air to arrive before doing your favorite outdoor fall activities, the second half of this week is the time to do them. We slowly warm up to the mid and upper 60s to close out this week and begin next week. We’re tracking chances for more rain early next week, but chances have been dwindling.
