Fleetwood Mac fans were shocked on Friday, Oct. 3 when Stevie Nicks publicly wished her bandmate and ex-boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham happy birthday.
On her Instagram Story, Nicks, 77, wrote, "Wishing you the best Birthday ever @lindseybuckingham! Love's ya! Stevie."
The birthday message comes shortly after the Sept. 19 reissue of the pair's 1973 album Buckingham Nicks. The record was the first album for both artists, with the two eventually joining Fleetwood Mac a year later.
Nicks and Buckingham began dating in 1972 before breaking up four years later. They continued to perform together as bandmates, with their post-breakup performances being some of the most beloved by fans.
In 2018, the pair had a public falling out when Buckingham was kicked out of the band. He blamed Nicks for his ousting, claiming she made the band choose between the two of them.
"It appeared to me that she was looking for something to hang on me, in order to instigate some kind of coup," he told CBS This Morning: Saturday at the time. "Irving [the band's manager] told me – a couple of days later – that she'd given the band an ultimatum, and either I had to go or she was going to go."
However, the re-release of Buckingham Nicks, coupled with the sweet birthday tribute, now has fans on Reddit wondering if the pair have made amends.
"You’ll never get away from the sound of a woman that loves you," one fan wrote, referencing Fleetwood Mac's iconic hit Silver Springs. "Nature is healing." said another.
