Sheffield Wednesday’s match against Coventry had to be stopped after a mass pitch invasion.
A number of Owls fans ran onto the field at the same time at Hillsborough in protest against the club’s owner, Dejphon Chansiri.
After 10 minutes of the Championship clash, in which Coventry had already taken a 1-0 lead, the game was suspended.
Both sets of players were taken off the pitch by the referee as security dealt with the fans who invaded.
Those who remained in their seats chanted ‘Dejphon Chansiri, get out of our club’ as the invaders were removed.
The invasion appears to have been planned by Sheffield Wednesday protest group ‘OwlsOnThePitch’.
A statement from the group posted on Saturday morning read: “There’s nothing left to say other than show strength, show unity in the fanbase.
“One man is to blame for the unacceptable treatment of the players and staff at the club we love and today we stand up to him.
“10th minute. Owls on the pitch.”
