Former Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Arthur Jones has tragically passed away at the age of 39.
The Ravens announced Jones’ passing on Friday afternoon.
“We are terribly saddened to learn of Arthur Jones’ sudden passing,” General Manager Eric DeCosta stated Friday afternoon.
“Arthur’s presence was a gift to everyone he encountered.
“His big, bright smile, infectious energy and eternal positivity created a presence that continuously uplifted others.
“He was kind, courteous and enthusiastic — always displaying a love for family, teammates and friends.”
What success did Arthur Jones achieve in the NFL?
Jones was a member of the Ravens from 2010 to 2013 and played a significant role in their Super Bowl XLVII victory over the San Francisco 49ers, recording a sack on quarterback Colin Kaepernick before the infamous stadium blackout.
He also had a fumble recovery in the game.
Following his Ravens departure in 2013, he spent three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.
The 2017 NFL season proved to be the last of his career – spending it with the Washington Redskins.
Jones recorded 10 sacks and two forced fumbles during his NFL career, along with an additional sack and two fumble recoveries in the postseason.
He was the older brother of Jon Jones, a former UFC Heavyweight Champion, and Chandler Jones, a four-time Pro Bowl defensive end who won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots.
