Charles Leclerc has escaped punishment for crashing into Lando Norris in the second practice session in Singapore.
The incident occurred in the pit lane with Leclerc’s Ferrari hitting Norris’ McLaren – pushing the Brit’s car into the pit wall.
How did the incident come about?
The collision occurred after the cars were held in the garage for a short period after a red flag stoppage following Liam Lawson’s crash into the barriers.
However, when the teams were given the start time for the session to resume, multiple cars pulled into the fast lane to queue at the end of the pit straight.
But just as Leclerc pulled out after receiving the all clear to do so from a Ferrari team member, he drove into the side of Norris’ car.
As a result, Norris’ car suffered a damaged front wing and was quickly wheeled away for repairs.
“I just crashed,” Norris was heard saying over the radio. “He drove straight into me.”
Norris’ car was patched up and he returned to the track for the final ten minutes.
Leclerc was quickly investigated over the incident, but escaped any punishment.
Though the same couldn’t be said for Ferrari, who were slapped with a £8,710 fine.
An FIA statement read: “After a red flag period, several cars exited their garages. Car 16 (Leclerc) was initially instructed by a team member to leave his pit box.
“At that moment however, it was overlooked that car 4 (Norris) was already passing in the fast lane, approaching the Ferrari pit box and directly into the path of Leclerc.

“As a result, both cars collided in the fast lane.
“Having noted precedents for this type of breach, the Stewards are of the view that this breach warrants a more severe penalty than previously applied hence the penalty above is imposed.”
Race for the championship
Norris ended the session down in fifth – 0.483 seconds behind McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri.
The pair are embroiled in the title race with Piastri leading the standings, 25 points ahead of Norris.
He then took accountability for coming in half a second behind his teammate telling race engineer Will Joseph: “The car is not half-a-second off. My driving is.”

Verstappen is still in the mix for the title, but sits 69 points adrift of Piastri going into this weekend’s grand prix.
Fernando Alonso was fastest in the first session but the Spaniard ended the day in fourth while Ferarri duo Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton were ninth and tenth respectively.
George Russell admitted he was still not at 100 per cent after struggling with a virus at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix last time out.
The Mercedes driver finished tenth in the first session but crashed out of the second session after losing control of his car.
“A bit of a weird one to be honest and I’m not too sure what happened,” Russell said.

“Thankfully I went in front-end on and didn’t do too much damage but it was game over.
“A bit annoying, so I am sorry to the team for that, but better it happened today than tomorrow.”
