Andre Schurrle will be pushing his body to its limits as he takes on a new challenge in the extreme sports world.
The ex-Chelsea forward has taken his career on a whole new trajectory since retiring from football aged 29.
He has been taking part in many crazy events, including Iceman Challenges, scaling snowy mountains and running marathons.
And Schurrle is showing absolutely no signs of stopping.
The former German international and World Cup winner is currently taking part in the ‘Last Soul Ultra’ along with 99 others.
The event takes place in Germany and sees participants have to complete a 6.7km (4.71-mile) lap of the course every hour.
Each lap starts bang on the hour and each person has to be at the line on time and start the next lap, otherwise they are eliminated.
There is no time limit or overall finish line, so the winner is crowned after all others have not been able to start or complete a lap.
It is an extreme endurance test and Schurrle knows that the event will take him to his limits, saying: “I’m fascinated by how far you can go when your body is already screaming to stop.
“This very moment—when only your head is making the decision—is the core of the Last Soul Ultra.”
“There are certain things that I see as challenges,” he added to SID. “I want to benefit from these difficult moments in my life.
“Of course, that also involves extremes. But if I’m honest, I don’t feel like I’ve arrived in extreme sports.”

Schurrle could race in the ‘Last Soul Ultra’ for days on end, with the 2024 winner running 119 laps of the course in total.
That was a huge distance of 798km, which was a new world record, with the event lasting almost five days.
During the race, participants will start each lap together and will be cheered on by spectators in attendance.
Every person taking part has to sign a waiver beforehand, making sure they know what they are getting themselves into.
Co-organiser and running influencer, Kim Gottwald, said on the event: “With the Last Soul Ultra, we want to create a framework where it’s not about times or medals, but about mental strength and the willingness to push yourself beyond your limits. Every hour decides whether you continue or stop.”
