ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Brisk but not chilly this morning with temperatures in the low 50s, and once again we’re about to have a dry, sunny day. Temperatures will climb 10 degrees above normal today with highs in the upper 70s.
This weekend will feel more like summer as high pressure moves off to the east, and since wind moves clockwise around high pressure, that means our wind will be coming out of the south and pushing in that warm southern air. Both days will be in the low 80s with lots of sun, and dew points will be in the mid 50s, making for comfortable conditions.
Our next chance for rain finally arrives with a cold front on Tuesday. The timing right now is looking like Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning, and the amounts across WNY are shaping up to be in the quarter to three-quarter inch mark. A good soaking would do us well, as the moderate drought in Rochester has been upgraded to a severe drought; the first since 2016. Unfortunately it’s going to take a heck of a lot more rain to get us out of the drought completely before the year is out.
Once the cold front passes, fall-like temperatures return to close out the week! Plenty of sun in that timeframe, though we are watching chances of rain next weekend. Check back in over the next few days for updates on that forecast.
