SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A federal government shutdown that went into effect Wednesday has already resulted in several Bay Area parks and tourist destinations being closed. Now it looks like the shutdown is set to impact the marquee attraction at San Francisco Fleet Week.
While they have not yet been officially canceled, multiple reports indicate that the U.S. Navy Blue Angels will not fly at the Fleet Week Air Show next weekend. While Fleet Week organizers told KRON4 that the event will proceed, regardless of a shutdown, it will likely due so without U.S. military participation -- which will be "paused" as a result.
That means that international partners like Canada and Colombia will still take part in Fleet Week, but the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard will not. The San Francisco Chronicle cited a Navy spokesperson who said the service would be "disappointed" not to participate in Fleet Week this year but would begin planning for 2026 Fleet Week as early as next month.

O'Rourke also told the Mercury News that two naval shops that were due to sail into the Bay Friday will now remain in San Diego.
