A man died Wednesday morning after he was hit by an unknown car while walking in the street in southeast Aurora, police said.
Aurora officers responded to reports of a person lying in the road near E. Hampden Avenue and S. Picadilly Road at about 6 a.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from the police department.
Paramedics took the man to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said. He will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
Investigators believe the man was pushing a shopping cart in an eastbound lane of E. Hampden Avenue when he was hit by a vehicle traveling in the same direction, according to the release. That intersection is just south of the Plains Conservation Center and west of E-470.
The unknown vehicle left the scene, possibly continuing east, police said.
