NEWARK N.Y. — A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a homicide investigation in Newark.
Newark Police say on Tuesday, they got a report that someone overheard a conversation where a person had been killed and the body was disposed of in the Sodus area.
Officers were able to find the suspect, Jared Nesmith walking in the Village of Newark. Officers say he tried to flee by foot but was quickly taken into custody.
Nesmith has been charged with murder in the second degree, tampering with physical evidence, and concealment of a human corpse. He is set to be arrainged at the Wayne County Jail.
Newark Police were assisted by New York State Police and its K9 Unit and Forensic Identification Unit. Police say this is still an ongoing investigation.
