Another Broken Egg Café, known for its Southern-inspired twists on breakfast, brunch, and lunch, is opening not one but two locations here in town.
The cafés are being brought to life by uncle-and-niece team Zeeshan Naqvi and Mahrouz Syed. Zeeshan, who studied hospitality in Switzerland back in the ’90s, has spent more than 30 years running restaurants across Southern California. Mahrouz, currently studying hospitality at San Diego State, is already managing one of her dad’s breakfast spots. Together, they’re ready to make Another Broken Egg a new favorite for locals, according to a news release.
“Southern food just has this way of bringing people together,” Naqvi said. “From Shrimp N’ Grits to our Lobster and Brie Omelette, we want folks to feel like every meal is something worth slowing down for and enjoying.”
Right now, the only California location is in Burbank, so these two San Diego cafés mark a big step in bringing the brand west.
The menu runs the gamut: Chicken & Waffles, Huevos Rancheros, Southern Chicken Sandwiches, and plenty of lighter or kid-friendly options like chocolate chip pancakes and the “Little Rooster” breakfast combo. There’s also a full bar serving mimosas, bloody marys, mocktails, and more — because brunch is better with options.
With more than 100 cafés open across the country and nearly 100 more on the way, Another Broken Egg is growing fast. But here in San Diego, it all comes down to a simple promise: great food, warm hospitality, and a spot you’ll want to come back to again and again.
