This isn’t to say that Stevenson is better than those guys right now. Instead, all I’m saying is that Tyrique is playing well when compared to some of his contemporaries. It certainly beats the alternative.

I thought last year’s coaching staff handled the aftermath of the Fail Mary poorly, so it wasn’t much of a surprise to see Tyrique Stevenson struggle down the stretch last year. But a new coaching staff brought a clean slate for Stevenson in 2025. And while the first few games were rough, the University of Miami product appears to be hitting his stride under the tutelage of Defensive Coordinator Dennis Allen and Defensive Backs Coach Al Harris. Stevenson still has a lot of work to do before he gains the confidence of all Bears fans. However, there is no denying that his arrow is pointing up right now.
