A man will spend six decades behind bars after taking a pair of plea deals to avoid going to trial on both homicide and drug smuggling charges.
On Friday, Weld County District Judge Vincent Vigil sentenced Marquise Daniels, 29, to 60 years in prison — 48 for the December 2020 murder of Blaire McQueen and 12 for the accompanying aggravated robbery, according to court records.
He was also sentenced to 12 years for two counts each of introducing contraband and conspiracy to distribute drugs for his role in smuggling drugs into the Weld County Jail and distributing them once inside. The sentence in the smuggling case will run concurrently to the 60-year sentence, records state.
Daniels pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and aggravated robbery. The district attorney’s office agreed to dismiss charges of first-degree murder, first-degree murder after deliberation and first-degree assault — all felony charges — as well as a sentence enhancer for using a weapon during a violent crime, according to the deal.
Daniels was arrested on Dec. 18, 2020, the same day McQueen was found dead in her home in the 2100 block of 18th Avenue in Greeley.
Daniels and McKenzie Prader — former roommates of McQueen — broke into McQueen’s home that morning to steal something in retaliation for speakers they believed McQueen stole, according to police.
Prader later told police that, during the break in, Daniels and McQueen were in a back room when she heard several gunshots, then saw Daniels run out with a lockbox and McQueen’s revolver, police said in an affidavit.
Prader is serving 25 years after pleading guilty to aggravated robbery, first-degree assault with a deadly weapon and accessory to a Class 1 felony as part of a plea deal. She was sentenced in April 2024.

He was charged with two counts each of introducing contraband and drug possession — all of which were dismissed in one of last week’s pleas.
For the other half of the deal, the district attorney’s office added two counts of second-degree introducing contraband and two counts of conspiracy to distribute drugs — one count each for the meth and fentanyl police say Daniels smuggled.
In November 2023, Daniels’ proceedings got more complicated when part of his defense team, Laura Tellers, was arrested on suspicion of providing him meth and fentanyl during professional visits. Daniels would then use rubber bands to strap the drugs to himself and smuggle them into the jail, according to Tellers’ arrest affidavit.
Since Tellers’ arrest, both her and Daniels’ cases have been repeatedly delayed, most frequently due to problems surrounding an extraction of Tellers’ cellphone. Tellers has a 10-day jury trial slated to begin Nov. 3 in Division 17 of Weld County District Court.
