Lewis Hamilton has shared the emotional news of the passing of his long-time companion, Roscoe, a bulldog who has been a familiar presence alongside the seven-time world champion and in the F1 paddock over the years.
“After four days on life support, fighting with every bit of strength he had, I had to make the hardest decision of my life and say goodbye to Roscoe. He never stopped fighting, right until the very end,” Hamilton wrote on social media.
The Formula 1 star described the depth of his bond with Roscoe, calling him “a beautiful soul, an angel and true friend” and reflecting on the joy his furry companion brought into his life.
“Bringing Roscoe into my life was the best decision I ever made, and I will forever cherish the memories we created together,” the Ferrari driver said.
The Briton also opened up about the pain of losing a beloved pet, highlighting a universal truth for animal lovers.
“Although I lost Coco, I have never been faced with putting a dog to sleep before, though I know my mum and many close friends have. It is one of the most painful experiences and I feel a deep connection to everyone who has gone through the loss of a beloved pet.”

Despite the sadness, Hamilton celebrated the love and companionship Roscoe provided.
“Although it was so hard, having him was one of the most beautiful parts of life, to love so deeply and to be loved in return,” he said, acknowledging the special connection that pets bring into our lives.
