One of the biggest boy band stars of the 1990s is teasing a “very special” announcement, three decades after the group’s 1995 debut.
Lance Bass, one-fifth of *NSYNC, took to Instagram to share "very special" news regarding the group's 30th anniversary celebration. While details remain under wraps, he promised a livestream event filled with surprises.
In a video caption, Bass wrote, "I’ll be going LIVE on my Instagram on October 1st, 8 pm ET/5pm PT! To celebrate 30 years of *NSYNC, I’ll be doing some trivia, sharing stories, giveaways, and may even be joined by a few very special guests! Be there or be square!"
He said in the clip, "October 1 is *NSYNC's 30th anniversary. On October 1, 1995, we all became an official group. So to celebrate, I was going through storage and found this box of all kinds of merch; there's so many good goodies in here."

Bass continued, "One of a kind stuff, samples we didn't even put out. And you need it more than me. So happy anniversary to us all, let's give this stuff away." He concluded that the livestream would be opened up to "a lot of people" to come, "maybe some of the boys."
In the post's comments, Bass invited fans to submit questions. However, he stopped short of revealing which of his former band members would join him for the event.

Before recording the 2023 track “Better Place” from the feature film Trolls Band Together, NSYNC’s last single as a group was “Girlfriend,” from their 2001 album Celebrity. The track, which dropped in early 2002, became their final charting hit, peaking at No. 5 according to Billboard.
The band reunited for the film's red carpet premiere, leading to a photo op featuring Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez, and Justin Timberlake. However, they remained coy about any future reunion plans.
The group’s most recent live performance took place at Justin Timberlake’s free concert at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, where *NSYNC treated fans to hits like "Bye Bye Bye" and "It’s Gonna Be Me." Previously, they took the stage in 2013 at the MTV VMAs when Timberlake was inducted as a Video Vanguard, according to ABC News.
That same year, Bass told E! News of rumors of a reunion, "Look, the door is always open." He added, "And I think especially now. I'm game, and you know we will be talking at some point. So hopefully, fingers crossed, something will work out."
*NSYNC was one of the biggest boy bands in history
*NSYNC was one of the biggest boy bands in the world in the 1990s. They dominated the charts, teen magazines, and stages across the globe with their catchy hits, choreographed dance moves, and devoted fan base.
*NSYNC released their debut eponymous first album in 1997, charting with the song "I Want You Back." That first successful LP pushed the group into the pop culture zeitgeist.
A holiday album, Home for Christmas, followed it. But it was their third album that truly cemented NSYNC’s place in pop history, delivering a string of chart-topping hits and defining the sound of late-’90s pop.
No Strings Attached was released in March 2000 and broke records, selling one million copies on the first day and 2.4 million units within the first week, according to Billboard. That album was followed up by a fourth, Celebrity, which sold 1.88 million copies and spawned the hit singles "Girlfriend," "Pop," and "Gone."
In 2002, the band went on what was called a temporary hiatus. The band was eventually phased out with no formal goodbye.
Justin Timberlake would achieve solo success as a recording artist. Lance Bass works as a producer. JC Chasez works as a songwriter and producer. Joey Fatone found success as a television producer and Broadway star. Chris Kirkpatrick is a podcast host and appeared on the Pop 2000 Tour.
