An Israeli military force entered Sida Golan village in southern Quneitra province (southern Syria) on Sunday, September 28.
According to the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the force, composed of 16 military vehicles, moved from Tel Abu Ghithar toward Sida Golan, raided and searched civilian homes, then withdrew after a short time.
SANA added that Israeli aircraft flew over northern Quneitra, particularly above Mazare al-Amal, Naba al-Fawar, Ain al-Nuriya, al-Koum, and Koum Mhairis.
Ahmad Abu Zein, an activist in Quneitra city, told Enab Baladi that after storming several homes, Israeli soldiers conducted a family survey asking about household size, ages, occupations, and whether residents possessed weapons.
He said the force offered flour and other food supplies, but residents rejected them before the soldiers pulled back.
This was the second Israeli incursion into Sida Golan within days. On September 24, six vehicles raided several houses in the village, searched them without making arrests, and withdrew after about an hour.
Repeated Incursions
On September 18, Israeli forces entered Tal al-Ahmar al-Sharqi in Quneitra, where the state-run al-Ikhbariya channel reported they dug trenches and built earth mounds after moving into the vicinity of Kudna village.
A day earlier, on September 17, more than 15 Israeli vehicles stormed the towns of Jabata al-Khashab, Ofaniya, and Khan Arnaba in Quneitra, arresting four young men before retreating.
These incidents follow other Israeli operations in southern Syria, including an airborne raid by four helicopters southeast of al-Kiswah in Damascus countryside on August 27. No clashes were reported with Syrian Defense Ministry forces stationed nearby.
On August 29, Israeli forces also entered Asha village in southern Quneitra with 30 vehicles, searched homes, and allegedly stole money from some residents before withdrawing back into the occupied Golan after several hours, according to SANA.
The incursion came just hours after the Israeli army announced the arrest of “suspects accused of promoting terrorist activity” against its forces during a series of overnight operations in southern Syria.
These repeated Israeli raids coincide with ongoing reports of negotiations between Syria and Israel over a possible security agreement, though talks have reportedly stalled over Israel’s condition to establish a “humanitarian corridor” to Suwayda.
