Todd Grantham was hired at Oklahoma State to be Mike Gundy’s defensive coordinator going into the 2025 season.
One week after Gundy was fired as the Cowboys’ head coach after nearly 20 years, though, it looks like Grantham has met the same fate after just 4 games.
According to On3’s Brett McMurphy, Grantham has been fired. It comes a day after the Cowboys lost at home to Baylor 45-27, a game in which they allowed 612 yards of total offense. Baylor’s Sawyer Robertson threw for 393 yards and 4 touchdowns while the Bears rolled up 219 yards and a pair of scores on the ground.
Grantham, who has had experience with several SEC and NFL teams, was brought in to help improve a struggling Oklahoma State defense. Instead, after holding FCS UT Martin to 225 yards, the Cowboys gave up 69 points and 631 yards to Oregon in the second game of the season. Then, in a loss to Tulsa, Gundy’s final game, they gave up 19 points but allowed 424 yards.
Saturday’s loss to Baylor, which dropped Oklahoma State to 1-3, was the apparent point of no return for Grantham. His defense averaged 555.6 yards and 44.3 points against FBS opponents.
