ROCHESTER, N.Y. – After some needed rainfall earlier this week, we’re now entering another long stretch of sunny and dry weather across western New York. The weekend looks great! We’ll see some clouds spilling in from a system well south, but we’ll stay dry on Saturday with partial sun and highs in the mid 70s. Sunday will be the sunnier of the weekend days, with nothing but a few clouds from time to time. Highs on Sunday will reach the mid to upper 70s. There is no shortage of fun fall events going on this weekend across the Rochester and Finger Lakes regions, and our weather will do nothing but cooperate! The Bills are playing a classic 1PM game in Orchard Park, and temperatures will be quite warm for football, with highs in the mid 70s.
Our weather remains dry and sunny into much, if not all of next week. The only thing we’ll be tracking next week will be a brief drop in temperatures, falling back into the 60s for a day or two by mid-week as Canadian high pushes some cooler air in our direction. At this point, we expect to stay dry until at least Saturday of next week, with the potential for next weekend also remaining dry.
Meanwhile, the Atlantic Hurricane season is heating up. Hurricane Humberto is strengthening, but should slide west of Bermuda, and well east of the east coast of the US. This means no direct impact from the hurricane. The next tropical system would be Imelda, which is expected to continue to strengthen and could potentially have a major impact on the southeast and portions of the Mid-Atlantic. The biggest impacts would be heavy rain and potentially major flooding for parts of the Carolinas, starting on Monday. This is a system that the First Alert Weather team will be monitoring through the weekend.
