The PCB had lodged multiple complaints against Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav with the ICC, as a result of which Richie Richardson, the match referee, conducted a formal hearing that ended with a warning for the Indian skipper, and there is a possibility that no sanctions will be issued, as per reports in PTI and Dainik Jagran.
The controversies that surrounded the Indian and Pakistani players have taken a colossal shape, as a result of which the ICC had no option but to interfere. The players from both nations had adopted unique means of criticizing and mocking their opponent nation, which was hampering the spirit of the game.
The controversies were triggered following Suryakumar Yadav's remarks on the Pahalgam terror attack in the post-match presentation, Haris Rauf's obscene gestures on the field, and Sahibzada Farhan's gun celebration.
The PCB had lodged two complaints against the Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav, one due to his remarks in the post-match presentation, followed by his further statements during the press conference.
The ICC considered that some action needed to be taken on the Indian player, as a result of which he was summoned for a formal hearing by the match referee, Richie Richardson.
As of now, it has been reported that Suryakumar attended the hearing conducted by Richardson and was accompanied by the BCCI COO Hemang Amin and Cricket Operations manager Sumeet M.
Though nothing has been made official, there is a probability that sanctions might not be imposed, but the skipper has possibly been warned to refrain from making any comment. The usual punishments for such offences include either a warning being issued, a 15 per cent deduction of the match fee, or one demerit point being awarded.
