Livvy Dunne was caught looking nervous by the broadcast cameras as she watched her boyfriend Paul Skenes on the mound against the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday night.
The two-time MLB All-Star pitcher threw six scoreless innings for the Pittsburgh Pirates as they pulled off a stunning 4-3 extra inning victory over the Reds.
Skenes also made franchise history in the contest after he set the Pirates’ single-season record for strikeouts by a right-hander with 216, surpassing teammate, Mitch Keller (210).

The 24-year-old’s girlfriend, LSU gymnast-turned-social media star Dunne, was picked up by the cameras multiple times throughout the evening, where it was clear that she was going through a rollercoaster of emotions.
In the top of the fifth inning with Skenes on the mound having thrown 68 pitches with the score 1-0 to Pittsburgh, 22-year-old Dunne was seen locked in to the action – albeit looking full of nerves -as she took her phone out to shoot a picture or video.
The Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover model – who tried and failed to purchase baseball Hall of Famer Babe Ruth’s one-time NYC apartment earlier this summer – then had to briefly put it down to shake off her emotions and re-compose herself, and she could be seen shouting “come on!” before picking her phone up again once more.
In the bottom of the sixth inning with the score now 2-0 and Skenes needing one more out to get the shutout, Dunne was picked up again on camera, this time with a beer in hand whilst cheering as her boyfriend struck out Reds first baseman Spencer Steer, shouting out “Let’s go!”.
That final pitch in the sixth would prove to be Skenes’ last of the contest, where he finished with four hits, zero runs, zero walks and seven strikeouts.
His performance – which was his last start of the 2025 regular season – also saw him move below a 2.00 ERA on the year.
Following the Pirates’ win, Dunne took to social media where she posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Best szn I did ever see.”
But that wasn’t all, as she took to her Instagram story after the clips of her from the national broadcast went viral.
Re-posting a post by ESPNW that was captioned simply with “Livvy Dunne reacts to Paul Skenes’ pitching”, she responded with a seven-word message: “Can’t blame a gal for being nervous.”

Skenes disappointed by lack of team success
Clinching victory over the Reds, the Pirates have now improved to 69-89 on the year, though they were already eliminated from playoff contention two weeks before the end of the season.
As such, this is likely the last time that fans will see Skenes in action until 2026, with the final numbers of the sophomore’s historic campaign being 187.2 innings played, 1.97 ERA, 216 strikeouts and a 0.95 WHIP.
Thus, this has seen his name put firmly in contention to capture the Cy Young award, although no starting pitcher has ever won it when their team has had a losing record.
Looking ahead to 2026, the star pitcher has not been afraid to speak his mind about the expectations he has, not only of himself, but of his teammates and the Pirates organization, calling for everybody to learn something from their hugely disappointing campaign.
“This is a wasted year if we don’t learn what we need to do and we don’t know why we didn’t go out there and do what we wanted to do,” Skenes said on September 19.

I don’t think that’s happening. I think — individually, as a team and as an organization — we know the adjustments we need to make. Now, we’ve just got to do them.”
“There’s room to get better in this locker room,” he continued. “We just need to do it.
“I’m sure we’ll get some pieces and do all that, but my mind right now is ‘What can we do within the locker room to get better, now and for next year?’ There’s urgency to it, and we need to understand that and act on it.”
“It’s going to take a lot of guys taking a look in the mirror, figuring out what it is that they need to get better at, and making sacrifices to do that.”
The Pirates entered the season yearning to achieve a postseason berth for the first time in a decade, but a sluggish 12-26 start saw manager Derek Shelton relieved of his duties and Don Kelly coming in to try and steady the ship.
However, the damage had already been done and all Kelly could do was ensure that Pittsburgh recorded their 29th losing season since 1992.
