Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif has alleged match-fixing during the Super 4s match between India and Pakistan in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025.
It was the second meeting between the bitter rivals in the ongoing competition. In the group stage, India inflicted a heavy 7-wicket defeat on Pakistan before winning the Super 4s clash by six wickets.
Unlike the group stage match, where they could score only 127 runs, Pakistan did well with the bat in the Super 4s match.
With India's fielders enduring a horrendous day on the field and dropping as many as four regulation catches, Pakistan went on to post a competitive total of 171/5 in the allotted 20 overs.
Opener Sahibzada Farhan, who was dropped in the very first over, made the most of the reprieve and scored a fifty for his side.

However, his efforts eventually went in vain as India chased down the total with ease. Opener Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill batted Pakistan out of the contest by sharing a 105-run stand for the first wicket.
Gill departed after scoring 47 runs, while Abhishek smashed 74 runs off 39 balls with the help of six fours and five sixes. India eventually crossed the finishing line in the 19th over.

Rashid Latif alleges match-fixing
Following Pakistan's defeat, Rashid Latif has come up with a sensational claim, saying that the match might have been fixed.
The former cricketer, who is known for making baseless and outrageous claims, said that Pakistan batsmen deliberately slowed down in the second half of the innings.
Pakistan struggled to do well with the bat in the second half of the innings. Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub put their team in the driver's seat with a 72-run stand for the second wicket.
When Ayub was dismissed in the 11th over, Pakistan were on 93/2 and were looking destined to post a 190-plus total. However, India's bowlers did well to restrict them to 171.
While India's bowlers pulled things back in the second half of the innings, Rashid Latif sensed foul play, saying that the match might have been fixed.

Earlier, in an interview with The Times of India, Rashid Latif had expressed his surprise over Pakistan losing the momentum with the bat.
"Pakistan were batting so well, how did it suddenly turn bad? You didn’t even try to be aggressive. They gave up. Why didn’t they try to attack in the middle overs? I don’t know," Latif said.
"Sahibzada Farhan and Hussain Talat had a 17-run partnership in 17 balls. Farhan scored 5 off 6 deliveries, and Talat made 10 off 11. At that point, Pakistan was in control. You should have gone for your shots, even if you got out. Then Mohammad Nawaz came, and he too played slowly, never tried to accelerate the scoring rate. That’s why I don’t trust their batting or bowling," he added.
Meanwhile, India have already booked their place in the Asia Cup final with a win over Bangladesh earlier this week. On the other hand, Pakistan will be facing Bangladesh in a do-or-die match on Thursday (September 25).
