ALTON, N.Y. — Nobody was injured in a house fire Tuesday afternoon in Wayne County, though the home — on Ridge Road in the hamlet of Alton in the town of Sodus — was extensively damaged.
Chief Chris Bornheimer of the Alton Fire District said the call came in around 4:30 p.m. Firefighters from seven departments had the fire mostly under control by around 6:30 p.m., through they were still working to locate and extinguish hot spots. No residents or firefighters were injured, the chief said.
Bornheimer said the home had extensive damage to both the first and second floors.
