San Diego pet parents will once again have access to free vaccines this month as Rancho Coastal Humane Society partners with Petco Love to protect dogs and cats from deadly but preventable diseases.

The nonprofit’s second quarterly Community Vaccination Clinic will be held Saturday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 389 Requeza Street in Encinitas. Registration is required. Vaccines available through the initiative include DAPPv for dogs and HCP for cats. Rancho Coastal Humane Society will also provide rabies vaccines, microchips, pet food, and supplies. San Diego Humane Society will be on-site offering pet licensing.

Parvovirus and distemper in dogs and panleukopenia in cats—three of the most common and deadly pet diseases—are preventable with routine vaccination. Yet an estimated 30% of pet parents skip annual veterinary visits for preventative care. To help close this gap, Rancho Coastal Humane Society and Petco Love are making vaccines free and accessible to the community.

“Thanks to Petco Love, we can offer these important vaccines at no cost to pet parents,” said Judi Sanzo, Rancho Coastal Humane Society president and CEO. “We urge community members to take advantage of this free resource to ensure the health and wellness of our community’s pets.”

“Vaccinations are vital to protecting our beloved pets from life-threatening but preventable diseases,” added Petco Love president Susanne Kogut. “Our goal is to make these critical vaccines accessible to as many pet parents as possible, breaking down financial barriers and strengthening the human-animal bond.”

Since launching in 2021, the Vaccinated and Loved campaign has distributed more than three million free pet vaccines nationwide, to reach millions more.
