Garbage’s Happy Ending tour stop in Connecticut turned into a battle with a "nightmare" incident.
As the ‘90s rock band continued their ongoing North American and Canadian tour, Shirley Manson, the group’s frontwoman, experienced a “horrifying” incident that led her to apologize to fans.
In a post on Instagram, a photo featured a set list of songs for their New Haven show at College Street Music Hall.
As seen in the photo, it included their hit songs “Run Baby Run,” “Cherry Lips,” “Push It” and more.
However, instead of a celebration with fans, the group’s lead vocalist offered heartfelt gratitude to everyone, including her bandmates, after facing a setback during the performance.
“Ok, well ……..tonight was the stuff of nightmares. I literally dream about this kind of thing and it was horrifying. Thank you to each and every person who stayed with us tonight and helped me sing the hard parts. Thanks to my bandmates who held me up. Thanks to our insanely talented sound crew. Thanks to all the amazing garbage fans here in New Haven, CT. We love you all. See you in the movies,” the caption reads.

The photo also included a handwritten note from Manson saying “Please forgive me,” signed by the frontwoman.
Although the band didn’t share details, fans revealed that the 59-year-old singer struggled onstage with vocal cord issues but still managed to finish the show.
“She was having vocal strain and struggled a bit. Didn't wanna cancel on our city again (they did 3 yrs ago) but she gave us her all. We're thankful!” one wrote.
Another attendee shared, “Shirley was having some vocal issues, but it was still a great show.”
Many praised the band's professionalism and high energy throughout the night.
“Live music - if the musician shows up on a hard night, that’s 10/10 right there. A true pro and I bet it was great,” a commenter said.
“My 10-year-old daughter cheered you on all night, what a lesson in perseverance for her it was,” a follower noted.
“You were and always are incredible. Y’all bring SO much joy to us. It is so appreciated that you showed up and did your best. Hope you felt our love,” a fan commented.
The same goes for another who even described the show as “spectacular.”
“If you hadn’t told us, none of us would’ve known. As always, you were (all) spectacular. Thanks for everything,” a user noted.
This September, the three-time Grammy-nominated band will continue their Happy Endings tour in Pittsburgh, California, Chicago, Kentucky and Toronto.
The tour will be followed by a string of shows in Texas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri and other states.
