A galaxy far, far away just got a little closer...
Lucasfilm has unleashed the first teaser for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, and it’s exactly what Star Wars fans were waiting for — from Din Djarin striding in full beskar and Grogu (i.e. "Baby Yoda") cracking wise with the Force, to a resurrected Razor Crest soaring across the stars.
Add cameos from Babu Frik’s Anzellan pals and first looks at Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White in new roles, and the hype levels just jumped to hyperspace.
The film, directed by Jon Favreau, opens May 22, 2026, in IMAX and marks Star Wars’ first theatrical return since The Rise of Skywalker. If the teaser is any indication, the clan of two is about to face their biggest challenge yet.

Din Djarin (Pascal) accepts a mysterious bounty and finds his target is an infant of Yoda’s species. Instead of turning him in, he saves the child, later named Grogu. Together they dodge bounty hunters, Imperials, and the ruthless Moff Gideon, forging the father–son dynamic that defines the series.
Season 2: The Jedi, the Darksaber, and Luke Skywalker
Din hunts for Jedi who can train Grogu, meeting Bo-Katan Kryze, Ahsoka Tano, and Boba Fett along the way. Grogu is kidnapped by Gideon’s Dark Troopers but rescued in a finale that shocks fans: Luke Skywalker, from the original Star Wars trilogy, arrives and destroys the troopers, and takes Grogu for training. Meanwhile, Din wins the Darksaber, setting up a leadership conflict with Bo-Katan.
In the Disney+ spinoff, Grogu chooses Din over the Jedi path, reuniting with his Mandalorian dad. Din is branded an “apostate” for removing his helmet but upgrades to a shiny new N-1 starfighter.
Season 3: Redemption, reclamation, and a new beginning
Din redeems himself in the Living Waters of Mandalore. Grogu is formally adopted as Din Grogu. Bo-Katan rallies clans, the Great Forge is reignited, and Mandalore begins its rebirth.
Meanwhile, Moff Gideon returns with beskar-armored troopers and cloning plans, but is seemingly destroyed. The Darksaber is lost, yet unity is gained. Din and Grogu settle on Nevarro while quietly working jobs for the New Republic.
The Film's Continuation
With scattered Imperial warlords, the Hutt underworld, and a galaxy still struggling to stabilize, The Mandalorian and Grogu will likely expand the series’ intimate father–son story into an epic adventure fit for the big screen.
