Whether you realize it or not, there’s a solid chance you’re a fan of Tame Impala. With hits like “Elephant,” “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards,” and “The Less I Know the Better,” their dreamy, psychedelic sound has been nearly impossible to escape over the last decade.
In fact, as of Monday, September 22, Tame Impala’s 2015 album, Currents, has re-entered the Billboard 200 at No. 168.
Currents, written, recorded, performed, and produced by Kevin Parker, was released on July 17, 2015. It followed Tame Impala’s third studio album, Lonerism.

Currents debuted at No. 4 on the U.S. Billboard 200, topped Australia’s ARIA Albums Chart, and reached No. 3 in the U.K. Currents also earned a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album, but lost out to Alabama Shakes for their album Sound & Color.

Speaking to NME in 2020, Parker reflected on the legacy of Currents.
“The longer it’s been since Currents, the more it becomes an enjoyable and nostalgic experience,” he told the publication. “Five years feels this sweet spot where I can really enjoy it. When I look back at that time, I get a snapshot of who I was, what I was feeling, and what I was going through. I can see myself so clearly when I listen to it.”
Since Currents, Tame Impala released The Slow Rush in 2020, featuring singles like "Borderline," "Lost in Yesterday," and "It Might Be Time."
