I am not going to call 2025 The Year of the Crazy Catch, but I will say that I cannot recall in my 17 years of doing BN a single MLB season that featured THREE catches that I would say are among the craziest I’ve ever seen. Three of them. In one season. Three times I’ve had to say, “This is not necessarily the BEST catch I’ve ever seen, but it’s unbelievable for very specific reasons.”

Jacob Young kinda made a decent play, but then a flukey/freak/oopsie thing happens, and then he recovers somehow to make an INSANE KICK-TO-HIMSELF catch. What?!
The others this year, by the way, were that aforementioned Lee catch with his knees, the Daulton Varsho twisting and turning backhand, and the Adolis Garcia falling bare-hander.
