After dominating the competition in prelims this morning, Iona Anderson heads into the evening as the top seed in the women’s 200 back by over three seconds, and will be looking to hold onto that momentum to clinch the gold. Alyssa Burgess made a big time drop in the preliminary heats and will also be one to watch in the final.
Joshua Collett made waves in the men’s 100 breast on night one, smashing the Australian Record, All Comers Record and Oceanian Record in the event in 56.61. Back in action today, he can be expected to bring the heat again in the 50 breast after securing the top spot coming out of prelims this morning.
The final of the women’s 100 free boasts a stacked lineup, with Olivia Wunsch currently sitting in the top spot after clocking a time of 52.49 in the heats. Just behind her in the ranking is Alexandria Perkins, who had the only other sub-53 performance of the morning, while Lani Pallister heads into the final seeded 3rd.
Jenna Forrester is the top seed heading into the fastest heat of the women’s 400 IM, but she’ll face a tough evening as she is also set to race the 200 back at the start of the session after coming out of prelims ranked 3rd in the event.
The men’s 400 IM sees Samuel Higgins in with the fastest entry time of 4:08.19; he is closely followed by William Petric and Cameron Ricchini, and with less than 2.5 seconds separating the three of them, it should be an exciting race.
