A construction worker was hospitalized after an Amtrak train hit a piece of construction equipment Sunday afternoon.
According to officials, the train hit a front-end loader in suburban Lake Forest just after noon on Sunday.
The worker operating the machinery was taken to an area hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
All passengers and crew onboard the Amtrak train were uninjured, according to authorities.
“It was just a really rocky stop, so I thought something might be wrong,” a passenger told NBC Chicago.
The collision was been cleaned up, but delays are persisting on the Metra Milwaukee North Line because of the crash, officials said. Crews remain on the scene, and an investigation into the crash is underway.
