The Chicago Bears inactives are out for the team’s Week 3 showdown against the Dallas Cowboys at Soldier Field. And while one rookie second round pick is IN for this one, another is spending a second consecutive week as a healthy scratch.
Rookie Ozzy Trapilo will not play on Sunday, as he is among the list of Bears inactvies for the Week 3 game. This makes back-to-back games for Trapilo getting the healthy scratch treatment. It bothers me to see Trapilo go from being in the running for the starting left tackle spot in August, only to become a healthy scratch in consecutive weeks in September. Perhaps there is a larger plan in place to use Trapilo’s down time to get him acclimated to the next level, and perhaps use him in jumbo packages later this year. But as of right now, I am bummed to see this latest development.
On the other side of the coin, another rookie lineman is set to make his 2025 NFL debut. Shemar Turner, the Bears third second-round pick from the 2025 NFL Draft, has been given the green light to suit up in Week 3 against the Cowboys. Turner, who was on the Bears list of inactives in each of the team’s first two games, missed a bunch of time during training camp (and preseason) due to a summertime injury. But things have been progressing to the point for the Texas A&M product to get in the game. What a wonderful development. Not to mention this is a much-needed addition to a defensive line that hasn’t been great to this point.
