The Path to Landing a Star, THT Officially Heads Overseas, Elite Defenders, and Other Bulls Bullets

Carlos Boozer is stating the obvious. The Chicago Bulls’ former forward joined SiriusXM radio last week and outlined how he would go about fixing the team (h/t Chicago Sun-Times): “I would make a splash and go get somebody that doesn’t want to be on their current team … I would trade some assets for a potential superstar, and then I would load up on the ’26 draft. The ’26 draft is loaded.” Gotcha. So trade for a superstar while also loading up on valuable draft picks? Easy! Unfortunately, accomplishing both those things at the same time is nearly impossible. And this feels particularly true for a Bulls team that currently lacks valuable trade chips. However, Boozer is at least alluding to the most important factor to turning around a franchise: The Bulls have to land a star. One way to do that is to prioritize draft picks and positioning to increase their chances of selecting the next young stud. The other way to do that is to package draft assets/young talent in a deal for a proven superstar. Obviously, both roads can come with plenty of bumps. If you’re going to play the lottery game, you have to be prepared to swing and miss. Meanwhile, if you’re going to wait around for the right star to demand a trade, you’re going to have to be prepared to be outbid. But the franchise has to pick a lane. This idea that they will internally develop a superstar after repeatedly picking in the late lottery and competing for the Play-In makes little sense. Not only are they hurting their chances at a high draft pick, but they are never going to attract a big-name free agent or trade target. The best front offices in the NBA are deliberate. They outline a clear course of action that fans, players, and rival executives can understand. The Bulls have yet to do that, and it continues to hold them back. EuroLeague champions Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul have landed the former Bull on a two-year deal, per Basket News. To be honest, I’m pretty shocked that no other NBA squads expressed interest after last season’s solid sparkplug play. He may not be an everyday rotation player right now, but he is definitely talented enough to sit at the end of the bench and fill in when needed. With that in mind, I expect him to have a strong season overseas. His more physical downhill play style will especially fit in well. Don’t be surprised if he’s back on an NBA roster as soon as next season. The Bulls have had some elite defenders over the years. The NBA put together a fun review of the seven Bulls who have made All-Defensive First Teams. Of course, Alex Caruso is the most recent to take home the honor in 2023 (he also made the Second Team in 2024). Do the Bulls have anyone on the current roster that could join this list? Perhaps Matas Buzelis!? While it’s obviously part of my job to promote Bleacher Nation Fantasy, I genuinely think the upgrades to the game and app are outstanding. I was never a big daily fantasy player in general, and a big reason for that revolved around the confusing user experience and play styles. BNF is extremely straightforward, though. It’s a great place to dip your toe in and make a few extra bucks in the process. Again, I know I’m supposed to say that, but I genuinely mean it. Anyway, today is the last day of our biggest promotion yet. We’re offering a 100 percent deposit match on $250+. It’s an insane deal you’re not going to find anywhere else. If that’s too big an investment, however, we’re also still offering a 50 percent deposit match up to $100. Basketball season is an especially popular time to play DFS, so now is a great time to test out the game on some NFL and prepare for the NBA season. twitter.com/BN_Fantasy_/status/1969778764436435105 The Blackhawks’ blue line has been one of the most interesting storylines of training camp.
