RICHMOND — In Richmond’s second homicide this year, multiple shooters ambushed a 28-year-old man Friday night in Richmond, killing him in the street, according to Richmond Police.
The shooters, who police had not identified by Saturday, shot and killed a man named Jerry Williams, according to authorities. Williams was reportedly walking on Lincoln Avenue when a vehicle approached him and several suspects got out of the car and opened fire at him. At least two dozen shots triggered a Richmond ShotSpotter gunshot detector at about 8:43 p.m. Friday near 8th Street and Lincoln Avenue, according to authorities.
Williams reportedly ran northbound through Triangle Court and collapsed in the 800 block of Lincoln Avenue. Police said responding officers said they found Williams suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the scene, police said.
Police said no arrests had been made in the shooting.
Earlier this year in June, police arrested arrested a 61-year-old Richmond woman, Terri James, allegedly in connection for murder in the city’s first homicide that left a man bleeding out on a sidewalk near Market Avenue and 6th Street.
