Steph Curry Scolds Rapper for Mocking His Wife: ‘You’re Better Than That

It takes a lot to get Steph Curry mad. The Golden State Warriors player, 4-time NBA  Champion, and NBA icon has the reputation of being a nice guy. But when rapper Killer Mike and TikTok star Bookie Woodz insulted his wife, Ayesha Curry, that’s when Steph had to put his 13.5-size foot down.

The drama began at the start of September when Woodz posted a TikTok criticizing Ayesha, saying she “embarrass[es] this man” by going on podcasts and say how “frustrated she is with his success, how frustrated she is that women desire him..how desperately she wants to get attention from other men, how locked down she feels with the kids.”

Woodz accused Ayesha of using every interview to vent about “not wanting to be with her husband…she wants to be [rapper] GloRilla or some [explicative]. Like, we get it, bro. Just go drop an album or some [explicative].”

Killer Mike then jumped in the comments section, writing, “My [explicative] said she wanna go be Glo!!! Man, Steph doesn’t deserve the embarrassment [for real]. God Bless him.”

Killer Mike—who won the Best Rap Album Grammy in 2024 for Michael, and performs as one-half of Run The Jewels—drew Steph’s anger. Or, specifically, Steph’s disappointment.

In the comments captured by The Shade Room, Curry scolded Mike like he was talking to a misbehaving child. “Naaaa, not you, Mike,” wrote Curry. “I’m cool [staying] silent and letting these other clowns have [their] moment. And you’re the worst of them [Woodz]. But you’re better than that, @killermike.”

“Stay in your lane and let God keep blessing me like he is,” added Steph. ‘We [are] good over here.”

    Ayesha Curry’s ‘Insecurities’

In 2019, Ayesha Curry appeared on Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk show and spoke about how she feels about Steph’s “very friendly” nature, especially when it comes to meeting female fans.

“Obviously, you know the devil is a liar and the ladies will always be lurking, hoping for their moment and waiting. You need to be aware of that. But for me, I honestly hate it,” she said, adding that there have been times when she “wanted to punch somebody in the face” for how they acted.

“Something that really bothers me and honestly has given me a little bit of a sense of insecurity is the fact that there are like all these women throwing themselves [at him], but me, the past 10 years, I don't have any of that,” she said during that 2019 talk. “I have zero—this sounds weird—but like male attention. So then I begin to internalize it, and I'm like, 'Is something wrong with me? I don't want it, but it would be nice to know that, like, someone's looking.”

Steph and Ayesha were high school sweethearts. They married in 2011. They have four children together—two daughters, Riley and Ryan, and two sons, Canon and Caius.
