The music world is mourning the loss of an '80s music legend, remembered not only for his decades of influence behind the scenes but also for the deep friendships he built with artists. Spandau Ballet frontman Tony Hadley shared a heartfelt Instagram tribute to his longtime manager and confidant, John Glover, while Belinda Carlisle of The Go-Go's also expressed her grief over the passing.
Hadley shared the heartbreaking news with fans on Instagram, writing, "Last Tuesday we lost one of the legends of the music business, John Glover. According to Music Week, Glover’s career stretched across multiple eras of British rock and pop. Through his company Blueprint Management — now run by his son Matt — he worked with acts including Jim Capaldi, Paul Kossoff, Go West, ABC, Alison Limerick, and of course, Hadley himself with Spandau Ballet.
Hadley was also a founding member of the Music Managers Forum (MMF), serving as a board member and chair over two different stretches from 1995 to 2004, according to Music Week.
Current MMF custodian Tim Clark told the outlet, "I was fortunate to meet John Glover in the heady days of the ’60s, when Island as a label, agency and management company, was flying the flag for independent music companies. He was a stellar part of Island’s success and never lost its ethos of putting artists first as he went on to run his own successful management company. He was a true gentleman."
