Brent Venables delivered some disappointing news about an Oklahoma offensive lineman on Tuesday. Fifth-year senior Troy Everett has suffered a knee injury and has been lost for the remainder of the season.
According to Venables, the injury happened a week prior.
“It’s just devastating… He’s having a really good year and [is] just a great leader, and he’ll have to lead in a different type of way,” Venables said.
Everett redshirted his freshman year at Appalachian State in 2021. In 2022, he emerged as a key contributor on the offensive line at center, appearing in 10 games. He then transferred to Oklahoma and played in 9 games while starting at left guard 4 times. He switched back to center in 2024, starting 7 games there while playing in 8 games total after a knee injury kept him out of spring practice.
Venables said that the Roanoke, Va. native’s knee injury was the same injury he had suffered the previous spring but in his other knee.
“Really hurt for him (with) all the pain, the sacrifice that he’s been through,” Brent Venables said. “He’s really tough and he’ll move on [and] move forward, and he’ll find another way to use all the leadership qualities that he has to help us.
