Chicago police were investigating after a 17-year-old boy was shot in killed overnight in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood.
About 12:18 a.m., the 17-year-old was standing outside in the 5000 block of North Winthrop Avenue when he was approached by a group of eight unknown men, police said. According to authorities, one of the men in the group took out a gun and opened fire in the victim’s direction.
The 17-year-old sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the body and was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Overnight video from the scene posted to the Citizen app showed a large police presence in an alleyway, with onlookers in the background.
No one was in custody and detectives were investigating.
