The University held the annual Homecoming Pep Rally on Friday. Homecoming 2026 was centered around the theme “One Tide. Endless Tradition. Forever on the Rise.”
“It’s a theme that represents so much more than a slogan,” said Madison Stellato, executive director of the Homecoming Board. “It is a reminder that we are all a part of something bigger than ourselves. You each have a role to play in the traditions we carry forward, the community we build and the legacy that we realize.”
Tony Giles, the announcer at Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium for over three decades, was chosen to be the Master of Ceremonies for the event.
“It is with great pleasure that I serve as the MC for this pep rally tonight,” Giles said. “In all the years that I’ve been involved with the University of Alabama as a student, as an employee, as an announcer, I’ve always said it’s great to be from Alabama.”
The directors of various athletics programs across the University’s campus, including football and men’s and women’s basketball, came up to the podium to speak about their goals and upcoming competitions.
In between speakers, the Million Dollar Band played well-known tunes like the “First Down Cheer” and “Phantom” melodies, and the crowd joined in singing “Yea, Alabama.”
To end the ceremony, the five women on the homecoming court were honored. Kameron Baba, a senior majoring in marketing, was named the 2026 Homecoming Queen.
“I have had a blast sharing my platform Better with Baba,” Baba said. “I focused on mental and physical well-being for the last two weeks, and I have been so overwhelmed by how much support I’ve gotten from all the students over the past two weeks.”
Baba’s experience as a first-generation student inspired her to promote her campaign “Better with Baba.” Her platform aimed to “bridge students with resources beyond campus, emphasize the importance of balancing physical and mental wellness and raise funds to benefit the Camellia Center.”
“I’m so excited that I got to watch these four other amazing young ladies and got to hear about their platform and their packaging as well,” Baba said. “Thank y’all so much and well done.”
