The SEC Now trio of Dari Nowkhah, Chris Doering and Benjamin Watson offered their top 5 Southeastern Conference teams through Week 3 games, and the lists are notable in their variety.
Nowkhah, who didn’t play college football, has the Georgia Bulldogs atop his list. Nowkhah then ranks Oklahoma, LSU, 1-loss Alabama and Texas A&M in his top 5.
Doering, an All-SEC receiver for the Florida Gators in the mid-1990s, went with the Oklahoma Sooners as his No. 1. Doering then ranks Georgia, LSU, Vanderbilt and Texas A&M in his top 5.
Watson, who played tight end at Duke and Georgia before a 16-year NFL career with the Patriots, Browns, Saints and Ravens, agreed with Nowkhah about the Bulldogs at No. 1 and Oklahoma at No. 2. But Watson included the 1-loss Tennessee Volunteers at No. 3 before rounding out his top 5 with LSU and Texas A&M.
Interestingly, neither Nowkhah, Doering or Watson included the 1-loss Texas Longhorns in their top 5s – despite their lone loss coming to No. 1 Ohio State in Week 1. The trio also left out unbeaten Auburn, Missouri and Mississippi State from their lists.
