The bodies of an infant and a 31-year-old woman were recovered separately from Lake Michigan on Chicago’s South Side Saturday afternoon, though police have yet to connect the two incidents that occurred in close proximity.
At approximately 11:23 a.m., an unidentified female infant was recovered from the water on the 5700 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Chicago police said. The child, whose age hasn’t been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hours later, around 2:23 p.m., the body of an unidentified 31-year-old woman was recovered from the water on the 6300 block of East Hayes Drive, police said.
Police have not connected the two incidents, as of 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Detectives are conducting investigations into both incidents pending autopsy results, police said.
