Damascus-SANA
In his interview with the Syrian News Channel, President of the Syrian Arab Republic Ahmad al-Sharaa was remarkably transparent, speaking clearly about the circumstances the country has endured.
He affirmed that Syrian policy from the outset prioritized protecting citizens and supporting key sectors such as agriculture, in addition to establishing the Development Fund, which is tasked with rebuilding infrastructure damaged by the tyranny of the former regime.
President al-Sharaa did not overlook the idea that Syria will not rely on aid, but rather on opening the door to investors—a move that also creates job opportunities for Syrian youth. This was something the former regime feared. In this regard, the United States of America has expressed its interest in investing in Syria.President al-Sharaa stressed that no one but Israel wants Syria to be divided and turned into a perpetual battleground. However, the fall of the former regime came as a shock to it. He added that Syria does not seek tension with any country, as it desires calm and a peaceful life.President al-Sharaa pointed out that Syrian-Russian relations are strong and must be preserved. Syria has also managed to build good relations with the United States thanks to its robust diplomacy. On the domestic front, the president confirmed that after the elections, there will be a constitution that encompasses all necessary details.
On another note, the president clarified that what happened in Sweida was merely a dispute between its residents and the Bedouins, but the wrongdoer will not escape punishment. The interests of Sweida and northeastern Syria are aligned with those of Damascus. Negotiations with the SDF are still ongoing, albeit progressing slowly. In conclusion, Syria will not relinquish a single grain of its soil, and the law is the ultimate arbiter that protects the rights of all—whether individuals or the state—and it is what governs political activity.
The President of the Republic spoke about the unfolding events in Syria with utmost clarity and transparency, placing the country’s interests above all else while maintaining foreign relations—provided that national sovereignty remains untouched.
