President al-Sharaa, in an interview with the Syrian News Channel

Damascus, SANA-President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Ahmad al-Sharaa, in an interview with Al-Ikhbariya Syria: “Any authority has two fundamental duties — protecting the people and striving to secure their livelihoods. This has been the course of Syrian policy since the very first moments.”

President al-Sharaa said that there are many sectors currently being developed in Syria, including agriculture. Over the past nine months, we’ve welcomed approximately 1,150 new production lines, in addition to restarting factories that had previously been out of service.

“The Development Fund aims to rebuild the infrastructure of destroyed villages and towns, serving as a direct solution to the issue of camps and displaced persons, first and foremost.” President al-Sharaa added.

President al-Sharaa said the term “reconstruction project” may be small, but it carries many details that take a long time to address. It is a working methodology — we begin with what is available and according to priorities, and even so, what’s available has not been scarce.

“Foreign investments create numerous job opportunities for the country and provide foreign currency, while at the same time, some investments also contribute to infrastructure rehabilitation.” President al-Sharaa added.

The President al-Sharaa said the movement of investment and capital within Syria impacts all sectors, and Syria’s openness to foreign investments also provides access to external markets.

“Syria has rapidly rebuilt its international and regional relations. We have witnessed great affection from most countries around the world, especially from neighboring states. Moreover, the United States has shown strong interest in investing within Syria.” President al-Sharaa added.President al-Sharaa said that land trade routes between East and West necessarily pass-through Syria, and the world is grappling with two fundamental issues: the security of supply chains and energy supplies, both of which are available in Syria.

“The former regime used to fear both foreign and domestic investments. But investment does not threaten the country, on the contrary, it boosts stability and positively influences national policy and international relations.” President al-Sharaa added.

President al-Sharaa stated that the liberation that took place on December 8th has given the region a historic opportunity, and I don’t believe anyone wishes for Syria to return to how it was in the past.

The President said that certain Israeli policies indicate that it mourned the fall of the former regime. Israel wanted Syria to remain a state of conflict, for example, and an arena for ongoing conflict and settling of scores.

Israel had a plan to divide Syria and wanted it to be a battleground for conflict with the Iranians or similar forces. It was surprised by the fall of the former regime” President al-Sharaa added.
