The Chicago Bulls will welcome six new members into the franchise’s Ring of Honor.
The team officially announced the second-ever class on Friday morning. Members are added every two seasons, with the organization inducting its inaugural class during the 2023-24 campaign. The intention is to recognize figures who have impacted the franchise on multiple fronts, meaning players, coaches, executives, and broadcasters are all eligible. This year’s class recognizes someone in each category.
Chicago Bulls 2025 Ring of Honor
Horace Grant – A 3x champion who suited up for the Bulls from 1987 to 1984. He made his one and only All-Star appearance during the 1993-94 campaign and made the All-Defensive Second Team twice while with the franchise.
Bill Cartwright – A 3x champion, Cartwright played with the Bulls between 1988 and 1994 after coming over from the New York Knicks. He started 493 of his 497 games with the team. Cartwright would later go on to serve as an assistant coach with the Bulls from 1991 to 2001 before taking over head coaching duties for 151 games across three seasons.
John Paxson – A beloved player and controversial chief executive, John Paxson has spent the majority of his NBA career with the Chicago Bulls. He played two seasons in San Antonio before joining the Bulls from 1985 to 1994 and winning three titles. He nailed one of the most iconic shots in team history, a championship-clinching jumper in Game 6 of the 1993 NBA Finals. After his playing days, Paxson would go on to serve as a broadcaster before taking over as the Bulls’ general manager in 2003. He would remain the lead executive until 2020 before moving to a senior advisor role.
Norm Van Lier – One of the franchise’s all-time greats, Norm Van Lier played a pivotal part in helping the Bulls become relevant in their early years. He was a three-time All-Star and an eight-time All-Defensive team member who played in Chicago from 1971 to 1977. The Bulls made multiple trips to the second round of the playoffs with Van Lier leading the way alongside Bob Love and Jerry Sloan. Eventually, Van Lier would become a beloved broadcaster in the Chicago area.
Johnny Bach – Joining as an assistant coach in the late 80s, Johnny Bach became an essential part of the Chicago Bulls’ first three-peat. He helped institute the aggressive defensive identity that the team became known for early on. He also returned to the Bulls as an assistant during the 2003-04 season.
Neil Funk – Serving up the hot sauce to Stacey King for years, Neil Funk was the beloved Bulls play-by-play announcer who retired in 2020. He started with the organization in 1991 on the radio before transitioning to television in the mid-2000s. Bulls fans know his voice well for calling some of the most iconic moments from the ’90s and beyond.
The Chicago Bulls will officially welcome these six men into the Ring of Honor on Nov. 20 against the Washington Wizards.
