Daraa, SANA — A new public park has been opened in the Al-Mahata neighborhood of Izraa, providing residents with a safe recreational space and a much-needed area for children.
The site, once used as a storage yard for broken-down vehicles belonging to the local health authority, was repurposed through cooperation between Izraa city authorities and the city council. “The transformation turned a neglected lot into a green space that now attracts residents and improves the neighborhood’s appearance,” said Mohammad al-Zoubi, director of Izraa city, in a statement to SANA.
Maysar Shehab, head of the Izraa City Council, noted that the park is part of ongoing efforts with community partners to improve public services. He said the project contributes to restoring green spaces in areas where many parks had been damaged in past years.
On the sidelines of the inauguration, Izraa District, the City Council, and the Al-Lajat Humanitarian Association honored 100 orphaned children in recognition of their resilience and to support their inclusion in community life.
