(KRON) -- A Bay Area woman has been on the run from law enforcement for 10 years. The woman, 27-year-old Isabella Chaidez, was involved in a robbery scheme that targeted several victims and resulted in one Gilroy homicide, police said.
"Over the last ten years, we have hunted leads and conducted follow ups on this case to no avail, until recently. New interest in the case has resulted in new follow-up being conducted in the search for Isabella Chaidez," the Gilroy Police Department wrote Wednesday.
Chaidez was 17 years old when she was part of a group that used social media to lure victims to meet up with Chaidez, the Gilroy Police Department said. Once she met up with victims, Chaidez encouraged them to take her back to their homes, police said.
"In many cases, victims would come to know her as 'Crissy,' which was the name she went by on social media," GPD wrote. After arriving at a victim's home, Chaidez and her accomplices would tie the victim up and rob them.
During one of the robberies in 2015, police said the group killed the victim, 56-year-old Robert Joseph Heiser.
Isabella Chaidez is seen in a undated photo provided by the Gilroy Police Department."In February 2015, Chaidez and her accomplices, Rodrigo Bejarano and Gilbert Cisneros, came to a home in Gilroy under the same pretense, but things took a dark turn. During the robbery, the victim fought back. Bejarano and Cisneros beat the victim, and he ultimately died from the injuries," the police department wrote.
On Feb. 16, 2015, a neighbor called police to complain about barking dogs near Heiser’s house on Bay Tree Drive. When police arrived, they found Heiser's body inside.
"Bejarano, Cisneros, Chaidez, and a fourth suspect, Gabriella Ortiz, were eventually identified through surveillance videos from various businesses in San Jose using the victim’s credit cards," GPD wrote.
A week after Heiser’s death, police arrested 19-year-old Gabriela Ortiz of San Jose. She was one of two women seen on surveillance video using Heiser’s credit card at an East San Jose convenience store. Chaidez was the second woman, police said.
Rodrigo Bejarano was captured in Elk Grove and taken into custody. Gilbert Cisneros, 20, was also arrested.
Chaidez was nowhere to be found. "She disappeared. No one has heard from her since," GPD wrote this week.
The Gilroy Police Department is asking anyone with information about Isabella "Crissy" Chaidez's whereabouts to email GPD Detective Corporal Thomas Larkin at [email protected].
